Favorite Fragrances for Women 2018

Perfumes…so many to choose from! Where does one even start? You try one on, then another and suddenly they all smell the same. Which have lasting power? Which smell outdated? Which smell modern? Which evoke happy memories?

A signature scent is such a fun thing to have. It’s a reflection of you, your personality and it’s what people will remember you by. Scents trigger powerful memories so having a good one is important! A small dose of a scent can bring your mind back to a special memory, a place, a season, a person, a flower, a tree, a sunrise on a warm day, a day at the beach or a romantic night in the city. When you choose a fragrance, you’re choosing much more than a scent. You’re choosing a memory for yourself and others.

I recently asked my readers on Facebook what their favorite fragrance to wear was and what did they like about it? I thought it would be a fun way for Em & Gracie readers to learn more about other fragrances and why people liked them in case they were looking for something new to wear. When reading the responses below, let’s not forget that fragrances are a matter of preference and they don’t smell the same on everyone.I personally was very interested in the responses I received and looked up each one I wasn’t familiar with. Being in the fitness industry where I’m in a studio setting with women who may have asthma and allergies, I typically don’t wear perfume. When I do, I gravitate towards light, clean scents like Amazing Grace by Philosophy. I learned that this was a popular fragrance with my readers too! In search of something new yet still light and fresh, I turned to my readers for their favorites. Jo Malone’s fragrances (all different ones) were the most popular, followed by Amazing Grace!

Below are the responses to my question “What is your favorite fragrance to wear and what do you like about it?” I was able to link almost all of the fragrances and add a little quote of information from my readers about their thoughts on them. If they don’t have a quote, simply click on its link for a description of the fragrance and be sure to read the reviews.

By clicking on the links, you can not only learn more about each product, but you can see the prices and purchase if you wish! Many of the fragrances come in travel sizes in case you’d like to try it before investing in a larger bottle. Travel sized rollerballs are a less expensive option and fit nicely in your purse but I don’t think they have the staying power that the perfume sprays have. Although fragrances such as these are truly a luxury, one bottle should last you a long time. I think if you find the right one, it can really improve your overall daily mood, outlook and mindset…so go ahead and treat yourself!

Fun Fact: Do you know the best place to wear your perfume? You’re thinking pulse points like the neck and wrists right? Wrong! It’s in your hair. Fragrances latch onto fibers, which is why the strands of your hair will carry the scent of perfume for a long-lasting effect. The oils sink into the structure of the fibers and take longer to evaporate. Some fragrances will dry out your hair if they contain alcohol. If this is the case, spray a comb with it and comb it through your hair. This is the optimal spot for wearing your perfume. There are many other points too. The pulse points like behind the ears, neck, wrists, chest (collarbone & decollatage), elbow creases, behind the knees, lower back, ankles, navel…you could go crazy! I suggest just one, maybe two spots depending on the potency of your fragrance. Another good spot is the top of your forearms because of the hair. If it’s very strong, I spray it and walk through it. This seems like a waste but I can’t tolerate overwhelming scents. The scent will subtly latch onto the fibers of your clothing.

Thank you all for these responses! I already own Amazing Grace by Philosophy and Scandalous by Victoria’s Secret but your responses inspired me to order Orange Blossom by Jo Malone, Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf and Noir by Tom Ford. I’ll let you know how I like them. I look forward to trying Bamboo by Gucci, Black Opium by YSL and Lipstick On by Maison Margiela.

What is YOUR favorite fragrance and why? Which of these fragrances sounds like something you’d like to try? Please leave me a comment!

Thank you for visiting Em & Gracie!
