It’s the holiday season and you’ve been shopping for others, wrapping for others, planning food for others, baking for others and you’re exhausted right?
I ran into an acquaintance last week at the post office and she expressed how she just wished the holidays were over already. She’s totally exhausted and not enjoying any of the rushing, hustle and bustle. I get it. Completely. I felt sorry for her but told her she’s most definitely not alone. I told her I wished there was a way to simplify it all and that maybe we should just try to relax and use a little humor to get through it because one day we’ll probably miss it all. She agreed and even smiled a little. ‘Tis the season for making memories. It’s a lot of work isn’t it?
I know it’s the holidays and we’re all thinking of others but it’s also important to take time to slow down, enjoy the moments unfolding right before your eyes and remember the real reason for all of the preparing and celebrating. Give yourself permission to slow down and treat yourself too. It’s important. Find a way to recharge so you can actually enjoy all of the things that you worked so hard preparing for. After you find a way to recharge, think of a way to give back to someone in need if you haven’t already. It will warm your heart like nothing else.
Speaking of taking time to treat yourself, have you thought about what you’re wearing for the holidays yet? With the holidays upon us this week, I thought you might like some outfit inspiration for your upcoming holiday parties and family gatherings. It’s not too late to treat yourself to something new. Something as simple as a new sweater and pants that you can wear even after the holidays are over might make you feel less guilty about treating yourself and a little more in the mood for entertaining and attending your gatherings.
I love this sweater for many reasons. It’s forgiving but not overwhelming, it’s soft and you can wear it many ways. You can wear it as a cowl neck, off one shoulder of off both shoulders. I’ll be honest…it looks awful until you put it on. It literally looked like a pile of ruffled ugliness before I put it on. This is why it’s so important to try things on when you’re shopping…or just keep following my blog 🙂
The pants are actually coated jeans. Do you have a pair of coated black jeans yet? If not, you definitely should consider adding a pair to your wardrobe. They’re great for events where want to look dressier than denim, not as formal as a pair of dress pants and not as edgy as leather pants. These coated jeans are so comfortable and have a nice amount of stretch and shine. The shine has held up well after several washings.
The shoes are beyond adorable, especially for the holidays. You’d never guess that they’re from Old Navy. They look expensive. I’ve been wearing them since Thanksgiving but I plan to keep wearing them even after the holidays are over. The good news is this tartan plaid is so classic and can be worn right up until Spring for years to come. The bad news is, they’re sold out! I hope they bring them back next year but until then, I linked some other cute holiday shoes for you.
These earrings scream fun! Be prepared for many compliments. I had to add Lobe Wonder patches to the back of my ears to prevent my lobes from sagging. I’ve always had that problem when wearing anything but studs and I’m so glad I found a solution! Sometimes I even wear two patches depending on the weight of the earring. These really aren’t too heavy so you might not have the same problem. My earlobes are just extra-saggy. Oh well. I have my health so I guess I’ll take saggy earlobes!

I hope this blog reminds you to enjoy all of the blessings in your life. Have a wonderful time making memories with your loved ones and remember…everything doesn’t have to be perfect. Nobody cares about perfection except you! Laugh your way through it… a lot… because one day you’re going to miss it!
